Xbox Year in Review 2018

I concepted, designed, and spec’d the Xbox Year in Review experience for 2018.

My team and I were tasked with concepting, designing, and building the 2018 Xbox Year in Review experience taking user data and delivering a delightful experience to celebrate our users.  We concepted and built a microsite that takes a users Xbox gaming stats and creates a personalized snow-globe based on each user’s data.

I built storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, functional specs, and designed the logic for the experience. I provided directional visual & motion design guidance. I spec’d out the logic, and mapped data to wireframes. I created annotated wireframes, functional specs, logic specs, and accessibility specs.

Gates Foundation - Goalkeepers full site design

I worked with the Gates Foundation to design a site for their annual Goalkeepers event and report.

For 2018, I started out by performing a heuristic evaluation and a content audit of their existing event site.  As their site wasn’t intended to scale, we had an opportunity to restructure the entire site.  I reorganized the existing site content created a new site map accommodating the existing information while allowing for future scalability.  I blocked out a rational site structure and and added the new content for the coming year.  I wireframed all of the pages on the site and designed a navigation framework.  I worked with the visual designers to define a pattern library and wireframed the digital interactive report microsite that defined the content structure for the print report.

For 2019, I reaudited the site content, updated the navigation to incorporate archiving, and wireframed page updates. This year, we explored rich story telling in the digital and print reports. We achieved this by incorporating a wide range of rich media at every opportunity to help illustrate key points from the narrative.

Minecraft Education Edition refresh

My team updated the Minecraft Education Edition site to better communicate with educators and parents.

My team was brought in to solve usage problems that existed on the current Minecraft Education Edition site. I performed a content audit to understand what content is present and then performed a competitive audit to understand what others are doing in the space. I worked with stakeholders to understand the current and future content needs and made information architecture recommendations to help the site scale with growth. I wireframed a new customer stories page with tailored messaging for key audiences. I also worked with our visual designers to refresh the homepage and add new features.
